Two seriously injured in shooting incident in Hertford

HERTFORD, N.C. (WVEC) - Two people were seriously injured in a shooting incident in Hertford early Sunday morning.

According to a news release, this incident happened at around 12:30 a.m. in the area of 225 Dobbs St. When police responded, they found two people who had been shot.

Both received injuries considered to be life threatening. One was transported to Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, and the other to Vidant Chowan Hospital in Edenton.

Police said the "initial investigation seems to show that the shootings were not a random act, and the residence was specifically targeted."

They said they didn't have any specific suspect information, but that a dark colored, possibly black, vehicle was seen leaving the area.

They also said that due to the nature of the call, Hertford Police had requested assistance from the NC State Bureau of Investigations.

Hertford Police asked anyone with information regarding these events to call them at 426-5587 or 911. They said a reward is offered for any information that leads to a conviction regarding this case.
