Over 500 military women to attend symposium in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- The largest gathering of military women is taking place at the Hilton Norfolk The Main on June 15 to the 16.

The Sea Service Leadership Association is hosting its 30th annual Joint Women's Leadership Symposium.

This years theme, "Charting Your Course; Navigating the Future!" 

It's anticipated that over 500 service women will be in attendance. 

The event has been recognized as the premier professional leadership development training conference for women in the military, directly addressing issues faced by those who serve.  

Event speakers include General Glenn Walters, Assistant Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps, Admiral Charles Michel, Vice Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard, Rear Admiral June Ryan of the U.S. Coast Guard and Chair of the Board for SSLA, and Deshauna Barber, CPT, U.S. Army Reserve and Miss U.S.A. 2016.

The symposium will also include an international military panel with representatives from Australia, Sweden, the Netherlands and Canada.
