Portsmouth police officers hope to bond with kids by coloring with them

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVEC) -- In hopes of connecting and bonding with more kids in the city, Portsmouth police are continuing their #ColoringWithACop effort.

On Tuesday, several Portsmouth police officers visited Westhaven Elementary school. They colored with kids in Ms. Gordon's and Ms. Boykins' classes.

#ColoringWithACop was started back in September by Chief Tonya Chapman.

Members of the Friends of the Portsmouth Juvenile Court presented Chief Chapman, Lt. Colonel Wilson, and Lt. Colonel Green with 100 coloring books and crayons to be used in the new program.
