Single engine plane crashes in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WVEC) --- No one was injured after a small plane crash in Suffolk on Saturday evening. 

The plane was located in an open field near the intersection of Cherrygrove Road and Greenway Road. The call came in at 8:58 p.m.

Virginia State Police spokesperson Sgt. Michelle Anaya tells 13News Now that the pilot, Robert Gray Jr., was attempting to land the small fixed-wing plane on the grass runway when he lost control.

The aircraft ran off the runway and struck several trees. 

FAA has been notified on the crash.
