TSA spots man with loaded gun at Norfolk Airport checkpoint

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- TSA officers stopped a man from bringing a loaded handgun in a carry-on bag at a Norfolk International Airport checkpoint on Thursday.

The man, a resident of Virginia Beach, was stopped by TSA officers who spotted the .45 caliber handgun loaded with six bullets as it was going through the checkpoint x-ray machine.

TSA officers contacted the Norfolk Airport Authority Police.

This is the fourth gun that has been found at one of the airport's checkpoints in 2017.

TSA is using this incident as a reminder that there is a proper way to travel with a firearm. Airlines may have additional requirements for traveling with firearms, so travelers should contact
