Two killed in single car accident in Portsmouth, driver identified

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVEC) -- According to the Virginia State Police, two people died in a single car accident on Saturday.

Police say the accident happened in the westbound lanes of I-264, west of Greenwood Drive at 4:01 p.m..

The driver has been identified as 56-year-old Cleophas Moore Jr., of the 5000 block of East Virginia Beach Boulevard in Norfolk.

The driver or a Ford Focus ran off the roadway, overcorrected, and went down an embankment striking a tree.

The driver and passenger died on impact.

Troopers are still in the process of identifying the passenger.
