Va. Eastern Shore man arrested after dropping bag of drugs at restaurant

(Delmarva Now) -- A Temperanceville, Virginia man was arrested Saturday after he dropped a bag filled with cocaine and Oxycodone at a chicken barbecue in Salisbury, according to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office.

A deputy responded to a report on July 15 at 9:30 a.m. that a customer at the chicken barbecue had dropped a bag full of pills and a white, powdery substance. The Sheriff's Office said the customer, later identified as 41-year-old Hubert Herring, dropped the bag while he was getting out of his truck to buy food.

Herring drove away from the event, but returned before the deputy's arrival when he realized that he no longer had the bag, the Sheriff's Office said. However, he left again before the deputy arrived and identified the pills as Oxycodone and the powder as cocaine.

After the deputy left, the Sheriff's Office said Herring came back again to try and find the bag, and the deputy returned to detain him.

Herring admitted to dropping the bag, and the deputy discovered he had additional drug paraphernalia, marijuana and a smoking device on him, according to the Sheriff's Office.

He was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of Oxycodone and possession of drug paraphernalia. After Herring's initial appearance before the District Court Commissioner, he was released on personal recognizance.
