Man arrested, accused of threatening to kill McAuliffe, family

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WVEC) -- A person is in Henrico County Jail West, accused of threatening to kill Gov. Terry McAuliffe and his family.

Online court records state that Leonard Szweda, 47, made the threats against the McAuliffes on July 20. Szweda was arrested on July 28.

WRIC-TV in Richmond said when police went to arrest Swezda at his home, they discovered guns and drugs.

Henrico General District Court records show Szweda faces several charges related to the threats he is accused of making, drugs, and possession of weapons. Some charges indicate that Szweda has mental health issues which make him ineligible to have a gun.

Szweda is scheduled to be in court on August 15.
