CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - A ransomware attack has wreaked havoc on the electronic systems at Thomas Jefferson's Monticello.
The Daily Progress reports that the cyberattack discovered Tuesday has affected the historic home's computer and phone systems.
Officials said the issue was not affecting tours, but that ticket sales and credit card transactions were being done manually.
Experts at Monticello said the ransomware attack was not related to the massive cyberattack that disabled computers at banks, government agencies, railways and other places in Ukraine.
Monticello says the electronic problems won't impact the home's annual Independence Day Celebration and Naturalization Ceremony next week.
Officials say the Tuesday event will go on as planned.
