'Soul Patch Bandit' wanted for murder of son in Newport News kills himself

PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WVEC) -- The "Soul Patch Bandit" who was accused of robbing banks across Central Virginia and was wanted for the murder of his infant son in Newport News killed himself in jail Monday night, according to WRIC-TV.

The ABC affiliate in Richmond said that police sources said Artur Kharenduzuck committed suicide inside Riverside Regional Jail Monday evening.

He was captured November 22 after he allegedly robbed a bank in Petersburg.

The FBI said Kharendzyuk was linked to at least six bank robberies.

WRIC-TV said that Riverside Regional Jail would not confirm that Kharendzyuk killed himself.
