Williamsburg man arrested after charging at police officers

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WVEC) A man has been arrested after he allegedly charged at two police officers who were responding to his home for a domestic dispute call.

Williamsburg Police were called out to a domestic dispute at an apartment located on 100 block of Merrimac Trail on October 28th, just before 9 p.m. The  caller said the suspect, who has been identified as 48-year-old Timothy Patrick Kelly, was destroying things inside the home.

When officers arrived, the victim answered the door as Kelly was seen standing in the center of the room.

Kelly then allegedly told officers they would have to kill him or he would kill them, before charging at the officers.

Investigators say there was a brief struggle between the officers and Kelly. He then was arrested.

The officers were not injured during the assault, but Kelly had to be taken to the Riverside Doctor’s Hospital for treatment of his injury.

Kelly now is at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail where he was charged with felony assault on a law enforcement officer. Kelly is held on a secure bond.
