Man charged in Suffolk shooting

SUFFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Police have charged a 28-year-old man with a shooting that left one person injured Thursday evening.  

The shooting happened in the 200 block of Columbus Avenue just after 8:30 p.m. 

When emergency crews arrived they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He received some treatment at the scene because being airlifted to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

Trenco Maurice Chapman was taken into custody and charged with Malicious Wounding and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. He is being held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
