Man struck by car in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a car, Tuesday. 

Emergency officials learned of the accident at 8:38 p.m. When they arrived on the scene they learned that a car traveling eastbound on Portsmouth Blvd. and Rt. 58 was just passing the intersection of Suburban Dr. when it hit a man who was attempting to cross the road. 

The victim was treated at the scene before being taken to the Hampton Roads Airport on Rt. 58, where he was airlifted by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. His injuries are listed as serious. 

The driver stayed on the scene, there is no word on if they will face any charges.
