World War I Allies unite at Langley

Langley Air Force Base remembers WWI

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- It's World War I Remembrance Day, and to mark the day, fighter jets from the U.S., France, and Great Britain are conducting aerial demonstrations at Joint Base Langley-Eustis.

All of this is part of an ongoing training exercise called Atlantic Trident 17. It tests fighter jets and their pilots from all three countries.

"What we're trying to do is trying to refine our techniques and tactis aerially together," said Major Kevin Whitlatch.

Major Whitlatch says each country's aircraft is unique.

The exercises will continue through the end of the month.

The demonstrations mean you will see road closures in that area. Watch out at these intersections:

  • Lee Road and Alert Drive
  • Lee Road and Durand Street
  • Ward Road and Dodd Boulevard
  • Ward Road and Emmonds Road
