Navy officer accused of hazing

Navy officer faces court martial for hazing

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- A Navy officer faces a long list of charges for what he allegedly did at Naval Station Norfolk, and five other installations.

According to our partners at The Virginian-Pilot, the sailor is accused of hazing in Norfolk, Afghanistan, Germany and other places.

The sailor isn't named in redacted court martial documents, but we do know he is a lieutenant commander. He's assigned to Navy Cargo Handling Battalion Eight out of New Jersey.

Military charge sheets show the reservist faces dereliction of duty, hazing and nine counts of making false statements.

We're told he made a sailor carry a Charlie Brown cartoon figurine, yelled at a sailor for 30 minutes to an hour and then denied it. He is also accused of trying to harm someone's career.

The court martial will be held at Naval Station Norfolk.
