NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- It is a somber day for the Navy community.
On Wednesday morning, shipmates and loved ones of those killed on the USS Iowa will pay tribute during a special ceremony at Naval Station Norfolk.
It was 28 years ago when a gun turret on the battleship exploded, killing 47 sailors.
It is the Navy's worst loss of life during peacetime operations.
