Witnesses told police that someone on a motorcycle was speeding, and was unable to avoid hitting a car.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Police have identified 18-year-old Korrey Green as the motorcyclist that died from a fatal accident in Newport News on Thursday.

According to police, the accident occurred at Jefferson Avenue and Newport Avenue around 6:30 p.m.

Witnesses said a motorcycle was speeding and tried to avoid hitting a car that was leaving a parking lot. However, the driver was unable to avoid it and they collided, causing Green to be ejected from his bike.

Green's motorcycle continued across the median into southbound traffic lanes.

An investigation revealed a third vehicle was traveling southbound and was damaged when it struck either the motorcycle or debris from the crash.

Green was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car that was exiting the parking lot when the bike crashed into it was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
