NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another injured Friday night.
22-year-old Javaughn Moore, also known as "Jay," was playing video games when he was shot and killed, according to family members.
The shooting happened in the 1500 block of Halstead Avenue just after 10:30 p.m.
Antwaun Dailey, Moore's older brother, said the news was devastating.
"There's an emptiness inside," said Dailey. "I cant describe the pain - the feeling that I had that my brother was no longer with us."
When police arrived, they found two men who had been shot inside a home. One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene, the other was taken to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Dailey described Moore as selfless and said his younger brother wanted to join the Air Force to help others. Moore had two jobs and graduated from Norview High in 2013 as a brand ambassador.
"Good or bad, up or down, he always had a great perspective on life," said Dailey. "He cared for people and he was so selfless that he put people before him to make sure they were ok."
Moore's family said they are struggling to find answers as to why the 22-year-old was shot and killed.
"I still can't think of a reason why and that's what's bothering me," said Dailey. "Why? What was he doing wrong? He was doing what he was supposed to do."
No suspect information has been released.
