ODU's Tyler Compton: a man of many talents

The Monarchs offensive lineman earned his undergraduate degree in 2 1/2 years. He puts his smarts and leadership abilities to work on the field.

ODU offensive lineman Tyler Compton is not a superstar. However, in many ways he is the most impressive player on the Monarchs football roster.

Compton is now a senior. He has only started 12 games in his career, but still sees plenty of playing time.

Besides the football talent, he excels in the classroom and shows great leadership skills.

Compton earned an undergraduate degree in math in two and a half years. By this coming spring, he'll have his MBA.

He played his high school football at Princess Anne in Virginia Beach. The Cavaliers didn't win a game on the football field in his four years on the team. Yet, he persevered. And then when he walked on at ODU, there was more hard work that  paid dividends. He is also part of the ODU football team's 11 member leadership group.

He hopes to get a job as an actuary which means he will do risk management analysis in the insurance business.

And finally, in case you weren't impressed enough, he is fluent in French. In any language this center on the football field, should be the center of attention.
