Portsmouth police investigate two shootings within an hour

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVEC) -- Police are two shootings that happened within an hour of each other Wednesday night. . 

The first shooting happened in the 100 block of Lexington Drive just after 9 p.m.

When officers arrived they found a man who had been shot in his lower body. He was taken to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No suspect information has been released.

The second shooting happened in the 600 block of Jefferson Street just after 9:30 p.m.

When officers arrived they found a man who had been shot in the foot. 

No suspect information has been released.

Police have not said that these shootings are connected.
