One man saved from cooking fire in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Norfolk fire crews rescued a man from a residential cooking fire Sunday morning.

Around 7:15 a.m. crews were dispatched to 857 W 36th Street. Once on the scene heavy smoke was found related to an apparent kitchen fire.

The fire was quickly brought under control.

One adult male was removed form the fire by firefighters and taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Officials believe the victim's injuries are not life threatening.

There were no displacements related to this fire, even though other apartments in the building were affected by smoke.

No further information was released.
