One person injured after school bus, three other cars crash in Newport News

More information about a crash that caused a big traffic jam during rush hour in Newport New

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- One person was injured after a school bus and three other cars crashed yesterday. 

According to officials, the accident happened around 5:40 p.m. at City Center Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue. 

55-year-old Barbara Daniels was making a right turn onto Jefferson Ave., hitting another car in the process. That car hit a school bus. The bus crossed over the median and struck a Toyota sedan as a result of the impact.

The Newport News Fire Department transported the driver of the Toyota sedan to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said no children were on the bus at the time of the accident, and no other injuries were reported.

An investigation determined alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Daniels was issued a summons for reckless driving.
