Witness says black Hyundai sped away after shooting in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Police are investigating a shooting that left one person injured Friday evening.

The shooting happened near 34th and Marshall Avenue just before 7:45 p.m. 

A 21-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds to his leg and stomach. He was taken to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

A witness told police they saw a black Hyundai speeding away after the shots were fired.
