Police arrest 19-year-old in connection to several attempted robberies

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- Police have arrested one man after they say he robbed three people and attempted to rob several more over three months. 

Mikal Malik Brown was arrested Wednesday. 

According to police, Brown is connected to incidents between May 4 and July 26, 2017. Those robberies and attempted robberies include:

  • May 4, 2017: An 81-year-old man and a 70-year-old man were robbed at Hampton Roads Baptist Church
  • May 9, 2017: Attempted robbery of a 60-year-old man at his home on Hampton Roads Avenue
  • May 26, 2017: Attempted robbery of a 50-year-old woman and an 80-year-old woman at Hampton Roads Baptist Church
  • July 12, 2017: A 64-year-old man was robbed while eating in his car at a Wendy's on West Mercury Blvd. 
  • July 16, 2017: Attempted robbery of a 56-year-old man in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven on West Mercury Blvd. 
  • July 26, 2017: Attempted robbery of a 45-year-old man in a parking lot of a Food Lion on Newmarket Square. 

19-year-old Brown has been charged with Robbery (3 counts), Attempted Robbery (5 counts), Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony (8 counts), and Wearing a Mask in Public. He remains in custody of the Hampton City Jail.
