Police respond to fight, shooting in Franklin

FRANKLIN, Va. (WVEC) -- Police responded to a fight early Saturday morning, 30 minutes later someone was shot.

At Dorchester Square Apartments police responded to a call for an alleged fight. When officers arrived no fight was observed, however, police dispersed a large crowd of about 60 people.

At 12:59 a.m. a 37-year-old Baltimore man was shot at that very apartment complex.

An unknown suspect approached the victim and fired several shots.

The victim was hit in his butt and lower left leg.

When police arrived the victim was intoxicated and uncooperative with the investigators.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Police are investigating if the two events are related.
