Police: Woman visited two other banks before robbing credit union

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Police are asking for the public's help identifying a woman who robbed a credit union, Friday.

The robbery occurred at the 1st Advantage Federal Credit Union on Jefferson Ave. at 4:45 p.m.

According to credit union employees, a woman entered the building and approached a teller with a note indicating that others would be harmed if the suspect did not receive any money. The teller complied with the suspect and handed over the cash, before the suspect fled on foot.

An hour earlier, a woman matching the same description as the suspect entered the Old Point National Bank on Warwick Blvd. The employees believed the woman was acting suspiciously, when they approached her asking if she needed assistance, the woman left the bank in a white truck.

Just after 1 p.m. a woman, once again matching the same description as the suspect, entered the Wells Fargo Bank on Warwick Blvd. The woman looked around the building before leaving the bank without approaching any tellers.

Surveillance videos show the woman entered and exited the three local area banks, but only robbed the credit union.
