Series of shootings injure several people, kills two across Hampton Roads

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WVEC) -- Multiple people were injured in three separate shootings Friday night. Two of those shootings happened less than half-an-hour apart.

The first shooting happened near 34th and Marshall Avenue in Newport News. A 21-year-old man was shot in the leg and stomach just before 7:45 p.m. 

A witness told police they saw a black Hyundai speeding away after the shots were fired.

The second shooting happened in the 1500 block of Halstead Avenue in Norfolk just after 10:30 p.m. 

When police arrived they found two men who had been shot inside a home. One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene. The second was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

On Saturday, police identified the deceased victim as 22-year-old Javaughn Moore of Norfolk.

No suspect information has been released. 

The third shooting happened less than 30 minutes later in Portsmouth

A juvenile was shot in the upper body in the 30 block of Merrimac Drive just before 11 p.m.

Offers patrolling a nearby area head the gunshot and found the boy. He was taken to a local area hospital where he died.

No suspect information has been released.

A fifth gunshot victim walked into Sentara Norfolk General Hospital around 11:15 p.m. 

Police have not said if that victim is connected to any of the other Friday night shootings. 

Police have not said that any of these shootings are connected.
