PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVEC) -- Animal Control Officers freed a snake, Monday, after it had become stuck in a glue trap.
Officers were called to the 6200 block of Centenary Dr. when a resident found the small snake. When Animal Control Officer Quintana arrived at the house, she discovered the snake was still alive, and began attempts to save the animal.
Officer Quintana took the snake back to the Animal Control Office. With help from Animal Control Officer McLeod, Officer Quintana used butter to free the snake from the glue trap. Happy to be free and alive, the snake was returned to the outdoors, Tuesday.
Animal Control Officers would like to remind citizens that although glue traps seem like a more humane alternative to other traps, when small animals such as mice and snakes become stuck it is actually more inhumane.
