9-year-old gets four perfect scores on SOL tests

9-year-old Hareem Mubashar scored perfect 600's in all 4 of her SOL tests to finish off 5th grade.

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- SOL testing can be a stressful time for students, parents and teachers but one Norfolk elementary student accomplished a rare feat.

Hareem Mubashar, who just finished 5th grade at Oceanair Elementary School, got four perfect scores.

She said she couldn't believe it.

"I was like 'Oh my god is there something wrong with this? There better be something wrong with this?" she said.

Four perfect scores is a high bar in the family.

Her four older siblings are all in gifted programs, including her, and have had a few perfect scores.

Hareem is only 9-years-old but will be starting 6th grade in the fall. She was promoted from 3rd grade to 5th, skipping 4th.

Her certificates and medals for academic excellence, however, are achievements beyond academics for her proud mother.

"We moved for this purpose," said her mother, Aysha Mubashar.

The family moved from Pakistan in 2010.

Both of Hareem's parents were doctors there but they left that behind so the kids can get a better education.

"If they had not been going good, we would be regretting it but they're doing good. I think we did the best thing we could do for our kids," said Aysha.

"We're all happy. We have a good education. We have a good home and I think that they made the right choice," said Hareem.

There is one other 5th grader from Larchmont who also got four perfect scores.

Fourteen students had three perfect scores. Thirteen were 5th graders.

This year's SOL results had over 100 scores which were over 596 points (just missed a perfect score by one question).

There were no high school students with three perfect SOL scores.
