Suffolk credit union robbed, police are searching for the suspect

SUFFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- A man robbed a Chartway Federal Credit Union  in Suffolk Tuesday night.

Suffolk Police said the credit union on the 1400 block of North Main Street was robbed around 5 p.m.

A black man entered the business and robbed a cashier. The suspect handed a note demanding money. He did not display a handgun.

The suspect was able to flee the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police described the suspect as a black man around 30 to 40 years old wearing dark clothing and a surgical mask.
