Two arrested in Newport News for Assault, Child Neglect

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- A suicidal 16-year-old girl led police to arrest two in Newport News for Child Abuse and Neglect Tuesday evening.

At 5:12 p.m., police responded to Lucas Creek Road where the distraught 16-year-old female victim was walking.

She told police that a family member abused her, and she had bruising and scratches on her legs.

A friend reported that the victim was assault by a family member back in May.

Police arrested 46-year-old Robert Hall of Newport News and charged him with Assault of a Family Member, Child Abuse/ Neglect, Strangulation, and Abduction.

According to authorities, another family member was changing the locks to their house, and that the victims belongings were outside.

Officers also arrested Cynthia Hall,40, and charged her with Child Abuse/ Neglect.

The victim was voluntarily taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Child Protection Services were also contacted and spoke with the victim.
