Two people shot at gas station in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Two people were shot in Newport News at a gas station on Wednesday at 7:50 p.m.

Officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of Wickham Avenue where the suspect walked over to gas pumps and just started shooting toward a male victim.

Gunfire ensues between the two males.

Police released surveillance video of the incident:

Officers found a 31-year-old man lying outside on the ground of the gas station with gunshot wounds on his left thigh and left forearm.

Before police arrived at the gas station they found a 19-year-old woman with a gunshot wound in her right thigh at the Happy Shopper located on the 4700 block of Marshall Avenue.

Police determined she was injured at the scene of the parking lot.

Both victims were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

There is no suspect information at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
