Unattended cooking leads to house fire in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Fire & Rescue battled a house fire Wednesday evening.

The fire happened at a home in the 300 block of Fuller Street just before 7:30 p.m. 

When emergency crews arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the back of the two-story home. 

Crews were able to contain the fire to the kitchen, and it was under control in less than 15 minutes. 

The house suffered smoke damage. Two adults and one child were displaced. 

Investigators believe unattended cooking caused the fire.
