SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, Va. (WVEC) -- Bobby Boone, Jr. of Franklin, Va. appeared in court today for an arraignment. He’s charged with murdering the mother of his two kids, Tanisha Freeman.
Monday, Major Gene Drewery with the Southampton County Sheriff's Office said deputies found 25-year-old Freeman stabbed to death in the 25000 block of Oak Trail in Courtland. Major Drewery told 13News Now Freeman was attacked outdoors and then dragged inside her apartment. Major Drewery also said Freeman died in the house while her two kids were in the home.
Boone appeared before a judge Tuesday afternoon for an arraignment with his mother, sister and cousins sitting in the courtroom. He was appointed an a attorney out of Franklin before he was escorted out of the courtroom.
13News Now spoke to a man outside the courtroom who identified himself as Boone’s cousin. When asked if the family would like to say anything about what happened, this is what he said, “God loves everyone and Jesus does too.”
Boone is currently being held in the Southampton County Jail. His next court date is January 26, 2017.
