Hampton survives DII Chowan for first win

Hampton won their first game of the season, but it took extra effort. They beat Division II Chowan 70-69 in overtime.

Hampton got their first win of the season Thursday night and it took extra effort to get it done. The Pirates beat a DII school, Chowan 70-69 in overtime.

Heritage High product Jermaine Marrow hit a layup with 6 seconds to go in regulation to force overtime for Hampton. 

AJ Astroth was the Pirates leading scorer with 18 points. He scored the game winning basket with 29 seconds to go in overtimne.

HU is now (1-1) on the season.
