Locals playing kickball for a cause

With 60 companies and their 1,500 employees, it was a fun and busy time for the 2nd annual Hampton Roads Corporate Challenge. An event that builds team bonding as well as raise money for local charities.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.- We all could use an occasional break from the grind of work, right? For the past several days, some area businesses were thinking the same thing when it came to their employees. The 2nd annual Hampton Roads Corporate Challenge does team bonding and in the process helps local charities. "We try to focus on making our people happy and making them taken care of", says Lauren Bland, Executive Director of the Hampton Roads Sports Commission.

The event goes from April 12-22 and has activities like golf, bowling, basketball, volleyball and cornhole. They held a kickball tournament at the Princess Athletic Complex in Virginia Beach on Tuesday. "I did this last year too", says Jerrod Chrisp of AvalonBay Communities. "I feel like a big kid out there." The top three companies are awarded points.
