Richard Sherman dresses as Harry Potter for press conference

RENTON, Wash. - Holy Hogwarts.

Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is ready for Halloween, showing up at his weekly press conference at the VMAC dressed as Harry Potter, complete with robe, glasses and magic wand.

Sherman said it was his son’s idea to dress up. So Sherman suited up as the famous boy wizard, his first and second choice for Halloween.

“When you’re a wizard, like we are out here, sometimes you have to show it to the Muggles out in the world,” Sherman said. “We’ve got a lot of wizards. My son’s a wizard. Earl Thomas does some magical things. Michael Bennett is Black Santa, but he’s also a wizard.”

Sherman stayed in character, fielding questions about football as well as the wizarding world.

“What’s harder – Quidditch or five quarters of football?” asked one reporter, referring to last weekend’s low-scoring, defensive battle with the Arizona Cardinals that ended in a tie.

“Five quarters of football is pretty tough. But Quidditch – the beaters, the chasers, trying to find the golden snitch, things like that, it’s tough,” said Sherman. “Five quarters of football, though, in the elements, I’d say that’d take the cake.”

Proving he’s a bonafide fan of the popular book series, Sherman said The Order of the Phoenix was the best.

Sherman ended his news conference with a wave of his wand and a wizard spell: “Wingardium Leviosa.”

Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling loved it, tweeting out that she's a Seahawks fan.
