NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion will play Eastern Michigan in the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl, EMU announced Tuesday morning."We are excited to learn our opponent will be Eastern Michigan for our first bowl game," ODU Head Coach Bobby Wilder said. "We had two very competitive games with Eastern Michigan in 2014 and 2015. Both teams played good, clean, hard football. Both games were decided in the fourth quarter. We will start planning immediately for Eastern Michigan."
In 2014, Eastern Michigan was the first FBS program to play at Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium, as the Monarchs defeated Eastern Michigan, 17-3. In 2015, ODU won a shootout in the season-opener, 38-34, as Ray Lawry ran for 223 yards and four second half touchdowns.
ODU comes into the contest with a 9-3 overall record and 7-1 in Conference USA, while Eastern Michigan is 7-5 and went 4-4 in the MAC, including a regular season finale win over Central Michigan, 26-21.
