Redskins & Cousins long term deal may be on hold

Reports out of Washington say Redskins quarterback, Kirk Cousins will not sign a long term deal with the club by Monday's 4pm deadline.

According to reports out of the nation's capital, Washington Redskins quarterback, Kirk Cousins is not expected to sign a long term deal with the team by Monday's 4pm deadline. The Redskins could still get a deal done, however, Cousins says he fully intends to play this season under the franchise tag that's worth $23.9 million dollars.

Talks have been positive between the two sides, however Cousins would prefer to wait to the end of the season to do a deal. Washington can still use the franchise tag on him again if they choose to do so, but it would cost the Redskins over $34 million dollars. Under that scenario,Cousins would not be able to negotiate with any other team.
