Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball team visits Newport News

The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball team will play Newport News first responders in a benefit game this Saturday at Stoney Run Complex.

The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball team will bring their talents to Stoney Run Athletic Complex Saturday when they take on the Newport News first responders.

It's a doubleheader that starts at noon.

We had a chance to chat with Col. Ben Mitchell, U.S. Army (ret.). He certainly put the benefit game in perspective when he said, "Most importantly use this as a vehicle to get folks to know that no matter what life serves you, you never quit. You just drive on and try to have fun. We're hoping they would come out there and whatever vulnerabilities or difficulties they're dealing with in life, they can look us and say, 'Wow! Look at these guys and girls out there. They have taken the worst that life can serve and they're making the best of it.'"
