York's season ends with loss to Hopewell

The Falcons bid to get to the state semifinals was cut short as they lost to the Blue Devils 34-6 in the Class 3A quarterfinals on Saturday.

Yorktown, Va.- The York Falcons had the ultimate turnaround in just one season as they took on Hopewell in the Class 3A State Quarterfinals from Bailey Field on Saturday. They were 1-9 just a season ago and were just one game away from reaching the semifinals, but lost 34-6. The Falcons jumped out to an early lead when quarterback, Ramsey Hayyat connected with Cole Lytle across the middle for a touchdown in the second quarter to go up 6-0.

The Blue Devils took over from there. After retaking the lead 9-6 by halftime, Hopewell's running game was unstoppable. Led by Ronnie Walker's three straight touchdowns, the Indiana bound senior guided the Blue Devils who now move on to the semifinals against James Monroe. The Falcons finish the year 9-4.
