What is it? a citrus solution that is biodegradable and removes icky, sticky, gooey, waxy, and oily spills
What does it claim? to work 100% of the time on surfaces, skin, even laundry
Who tested it? Jenna Ward, a teacher at Rainbow Station in Virginia Beach. She has to deal with a lot of sticky messes that children sometimes create, especially in the art room.
What Are The Instructions? For spots on hard surfaces, just spray De-Solv-it and let it sit for 20-30 seconds. For tougher stains, you can let it sit longer. Then just wipe it off and rinse the area.
If you've got a mess in your hair or on your skin again, you just spray the area, let it sit then follow up with a mild soap or shampoo and rinse.
When you're working on carpet or upholstery, you should apply the De-Solv-it to a clean cloth and blot the problem area until stain is removed. Then rinse with water and blot dry with a clean cloth or paper towel. For best results in this case, you can also try rinsing with a wet/dry vacuum. It's important to note here that the manufacturers say you should NEVER apply the De-Solv-it liquid directly to carpet or upholstery or allow it to get on the carpet backing.
When it comes to removing spots from your laundry, saturate the problem area on both sides of the fabric. Let it sit for one to two minutes then blot the area with paper towel. Respray the spot and then launder the item according to the manufacturer's directions.
Did it work? Our tester thought it did a great job on sticky messes. She says you just need to make sure you let it sit long enough. If you try to wipe it off too early, they you may need to use more elbow grease to make it work. She tried it on scuff marks on a painted wall as well. While it did lighten the marks, she found that it was taking off some of the paint. So she decided to not to continue using De-Solv-it on the marks. She also noticed that when using it on marks on the floor, it can seem a little slippery afterwards. So she made sure she cleaned all the De-Solv-it up so that no one slipped. Overall she was pretty impressed with the product.
Cost/Availability? You can purchase a 12.6 ounce bottle of De-Solv-it at Walmart for $4.78
