HAMPTON -- Shortly after his speech in Virginia Beach on Friday, President Obama stopped at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall in Phoebus.
He shook the hands of vets and then made his way to Phoebus High School. Crowds lined the route.
Inside the school, the crowd chanted 'Four more years!' while waiting for the president to speak.
Former governor Tim Kaine introduced the president who took the gym stage about 4:50. Obama stopped and visited the overflow crowd in the school's library first where there were about 200 people. Another 1,300 were in the gym.
During the speech, Obama said, 'We knew turning around the economy would take longer than one year.'
He talked about affordable education and the much-debated healthcare plan.
Obama flew from Norfolk International Airport to Langley Air Force Base in the afternoon. He will fly out of Hampton Roads and head to Roanoke. Next week, he campaigns in Ohio and Texas.
