NORFOLK---Norfolk City Council agreed with city planners that the Downtown Plaza near St. Paul's Boulevard is the best location for a new bus transfer station.

Council voted to make the move at Tuesday night's council meeting.

Planners said it was the cheapest and quickest option to move the station from Cedar Grove.

Neighbors near the site, however, were worried about an increase in crime and a drop in property values with the move to the Downtown Plaza.

'Here we thought we were moving forward, but that seems like a major step back,' said Norfolk resident Karen Carter.

Some council members prefer a location at Harbor Park, but plannerssay thatwould cost upwards of $20 million, compared to the $4 million already budgeted for the Downtown Plaza site.
