NAGS HEAD, N.C. (AP) -- The Outer Banks are bracing for Tropical Storm Andrea, but authorities say the storm should not bring too many problems to the battered barrier islands.

A tropical storm warning has been issued for the entire North Carolina coast, but Andrea is expected to track well inland. Forecasters say the biggest threat could be heavy rains with up to 4 inches falling starting Thursday night into Friday evening.

National Weather Service meteorologist John Elardo says the storm should not bring serious coastal flooding to the Outer Banks because most of the waves will be pushed to the north and east, away from the beaches. He says tides on the sound side of the Outer Banks could be a foot or so above normal.
