9:25 a.m. UPDATE 7/23: Rodney Dean was arraigned on a charge of manufacturing methamphetamines. He remains in custody and is due in court again on October 23, according to Chesapeake General District Court.

CHESAPEAKE -- A Chesapeake man has been arrested after police uncovered a meth lab in his car Tuesday afternoon.

Police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Sparrow and Providence Roads around 4:50 p.m., according to Detective D.M. Boykins.

The driver, 50-year-old Rodney Dean, was know to officers for having a revoked driver's license, police stated.

Upon investigation police located the items consistent with the manufacturing of methamphetamines.Dean was taken into custody a short time later.

A Chesapeake Fire hazmat unit responded along with State Police and DEA officials to collect evidence and assist with the investigation.
