VIRGINIA BEACH -Three Virginia Beach men are walking the walk, literally, to raise awareness and support for increased funding for Alzheimer's research.

Dave Stephens is one of them. He's a board member of the Alzheimer's Association of Southeastern Virginia.

Stephens says 1,300 people a day are diagnosed with the disease worldwide. He calls that an epidemic.

'Right now, we know that there is $6 billion that is being used to fund cancer and we know that that kind of number has made a huge difference in the survival rate,' he said.

He and two friends will end their trek at the White House and that by then, 13,000 people will have been diagnosed with the disease.

Stephens says President Barack Obama has earmarked an additional $150 million on top of the $500 million budgeted for 2013.
