CHESAPEAKE-- An accountant in Chesapeake hit all the right numbers to win a $1 million prize in Virginia Lottery's Scratcher game.

Lottery officials say Randy Latham is a fairly quiet kind of guy, so when he discovered that the Maximum Millions ticket in his hand was worth $1 million, there was no fuss.

'I'm just going to put this in my pocket and go home to talk to my wife,' was his first reaction.

Latham became the game's 12th million-dollar winner with a ticket he bought at the 7-Eleven at 242 South Battlefield Blvd. in Chesapeake.

He had the choice of taking the full $1 million over 25 years or a one-time cash option of $564,000 before taxes. He chose the cash option.

The store received a $10,000 bonus from the Virginia Lottery for selling the winning ticket.

Latham told Lottery officials he was planning to retire next year.

Maximum Millions features prizes ranging from $20 up to $1 million.

Three top-prize tickets remain unclaimed.
