WILLIAMSBURG-More than a thousand people were without power Friday morning when a tree fell over and broke three power poles in Williamsburg.

About half the customers in the area of Neck-O-Land Road had power restored shortly after the outage was reported just before 8:00 a.m., Dominion Power officials said.

The tree fell over because the ground is saturated from all the rain, officials added.

Dominion Power crews were working to restore power to about 700 customers and repair the broken poles.

By 9:30 a.m., just over 500 customers were still without power, according to the Dominion Power website.
