VIRGINIA BEACH -- A Virginia Beach man was sentenced to serve 40 years in prison for carjacking a pregnant woman from a grocery store parking lot last year, sexually assaulting her and forcing her to withdraw money from her bank account.

According to a release from the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office, Jacob James Wyman, 33, pleaded guilty to charges of abduction, robbery, carjacking, forcible sodomy and aggravated sexual battery.

The February 2012 attack started in a Food Lion parking lot on Independence Boulevard.

Wyman bragged to the victim that he had recently been released from prison and he needed to get high, according to the release.

The victim escaped when Wyman demanded she go back into the grocery store and buy him beer, the release stated.

Judge A. Bonwill Shockley sentenced Wyman to 50 years in prison with another 10 years suspended.

Wyman has a lengthy criminal record dating back to 1993 and was given an additional 21-year sentence for violating the terms of his probation in Norfolk.
